18th Century Market Faire & Battle Re-Enactment to Celebrate the 225th Anniversary of the Whiskey Rebellion
In honor of the 225th anniversary of the Whiskey Rebellion, Woodville Plantation a/k/a Neville House, is hosting a re-creation of an 18th century Market Faire and Whiskey Rebellion battle re-enactment on Saturday, July 20th and Sunday, July 21st, 2019 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm daily on the grounds of Woodville Plantation.
Two hundred and twenty-five years ago this week, rebels protesting a federal tax on whiskey made with their Western Pennsylvania-grown rye clashed with the men of tax inspector John Neville in what’s now known as the Battle of Bower Hill….
Each summer, Woodville Plantation sponsors a re-enactment of the signature event of the Whiskey Rebellion, the Battle of Bower Hill, in mid-July. This year, that will take place on July 20 and 21. We have seen this several times and can confirm that it warrants attendance…
